Technical Manager – Fresh Processing

Purpose of the Role
- This position is responsible
for managing the technical function within the FPC ensuring all materials
including finished products are safe and conform to all relevant
specifications, legislation and DFI Retail Group requirements
- The role manages the Technical
Services the QC teams, and acts as a key interface with the Supply Chain,
Production and Facilities Maintenance teams.
Key Challenges
- Work with multi stakeholders
to deliver the strategic needs of the business whilst ensuring all food
safety standards, local regulations and DFI Retail Group requirements are
being meet
- Identify food safety risks
relating to raw materials, manufacturing processes and put in place steps
to mitigate the risks
- Evaluate existing and develop
testing program (raw materials and finished product) for pesticides,
chemicals and microbiological to ensure the program is fit for purpose.
The Job
- Ensure the operational
process and production of finished goods are appropriately controlled, via
HACCP, to ensure compliance with food safety and DFI Retail Group standards
- Ensure that technical
governance is in place to deliver audit compliance with respect to
internal, external, legal and DFI Retail Group requirements
- Investigations into key deviations
from process and product specification, taking appropriate action to bring
the process back into control
- Monitor departmental KPI’s e.g.
environmental swabs, NIP and challenge improvement when required to ensure
targets are achieved and improved
- Interface with key stakeholders
during site visits and audits, business reviews and other key
opportunities
- Provide leadership and direction
to ensure that within the function people are kept safe, engaged, focused,
developed and delivering to their potential·
- Work closely with OHS function
to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all team members and that
as a minimum the department meets the standards set out in the OHS Policy
- Support as necessary the
Regulatory Affairs Manager with product withdrawals.
The Person
- University Degree in Science
–preferably in Food Science and Technology.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in
Food Safety/Technical for Food Manufacturing. HACCP certified and conversant with GFSI
auditing schemes. Solid experience
in manufacturing for local markets such as ASEAN and China will be preferred
as well as overseas would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work
independently, communicate effectively, work under pressure, and
prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational and
prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with
demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
- Demonstrated problem solving,
decision making, and negotiating skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and
be a team player
- Good command of both written &
spoken English (and applicable local language e.g. Chinese).
- Independent, hardworking and
self-motivated.
- Proficient in MS Office including
MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
