The quintessential British clothes Maison Aquascutum was founded in 1851 by tailor John Emary. Three years later, after succeeding in producing the first waterproof wool, the company was renamed ‘Aquascutum’, from Latin word for “water-shield”. Aquascutum is an institution, being the natural preference of the British Establishment as witnessed with the different warrants and rewards granted by the Royal Family. Today Aquascutum has a presence in the UK and Asia with 300 POS.
